Walt Disney’s Impossible to I’m Possible Story
Walt Disney and his brothers were frequently beaten by their dad. When Walt was ten, Roy left home. When Roy left, Walt was lonely. He created imaginary characters with pen and paper. Walt dropped out of school and left home at 16. Walt was fired by a newspaper editor for lack of ideas. He also went bankrupt several times and at one point was forced to dissolve his company. He created Mickey Mouse at his lowest point. When Walt tried to get MGM studios to distribute Mickey Mouse in 1927 he was told that the idea would never work– a giant mouse on the screen would terrify women. The next year,
Mickey Mouse became the biggest sensation. Because of Walt’s rough childhood he wanted to create a place where parents and kids could go and have fun together so he created the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. His numerous innovations include animated cartoons with synchronized sound tracks, the first full-length animated feature film, and theme parks.
Walt Disney won or received a total of 26 Academy Awards, and holds the record for most Academy Awards in history. He won a total of 22 competitive Academy Awards from a total of 59 nominations, and also holds the records for most wins and most nominations for an individual in history.
“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
